Wound Care Surgeon
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Wound Center

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) along with The Division of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery within the Department of Surgery is looking to hire a General/Gastrointestinal Surgeon with a focus in wound care to join its elite team of surgeons at the Comprehensive Wound Center. This position will include a focus on general surgery and wound care with an expectation for participation and extramural funding in general surgery and wound care research as well as teaching medical students and surgical and non-surgical residents.  The OSUWMC Department of Surgery, Division of General & Gastrointestinal Surgery participates in a comprehensive wound care program with referrals from around the State of Ohio.  We deliver hyperbaric therapy and have a world renowned research program with NIH funding looking at wound healing, tissue regeneration and cell re-programming.  The opportunity and expectation is to participate in the Comprehensive Wound Center and obtain extramural funding with protected time for research.  The position will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level and candidate must have completed wound care fellowship program or equivalent. This position is full time and will be based at Ohio State University East Hospital.  The position offers the potential for growth and offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
 
Qualifications

  • Board Eligible or Certified in General Surgery
  • Successful completion of a wound care fellowship or equivalent
  • Academic experience a plus
  • Eligible for State of Ohio medical licensure
  • Qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level – Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience

Postdoctoral Position, Gibson Laboratory in the Department of Surgery
University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health

 
Candidates must have a PhD in biological sciences or related field.  Background in cellular and molecular biology and animal research is highly desirable. Experience with cell and tissue culture is necessary.  Excellent spoken and written English communication skills and experience with Excel and Word is required.

The Gibson laboratory in the Department of Surgery is looking for a highly motivated and self-directed individual who will provide expertise at a comprehensive and independent level. The position requires the ability to design research methodologies and perform the research with critical thinking and the ability to identify problems and barriers.

Specific skill sets include RNA, DNA extraction and amplification, PCR, Western Blot, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, protocol and assay development. This individual will work closely with students and other researchers in different departments on a variety of exciting and challenging projects on the cutting edge of burn and wound healing research. Development and use of a porcine burn animal model will be a significant part of this position. This position will also assist in the development of grant applications and the preparation and presentation of research results. In addition, this individual may be required to perform lab management duties including supervision of personnel.
