Positions in the Department of Surgery at the Helen & Martin Kimmel Division of Wound Healing & Regenerative Medicine

The Division of Wound Healing (Harold Brem, MD Director), is seeking to fill multiple positions.

1. General Surgeon
2. Clinical and Research Fellow
3. Epidemiologist, PhD  
4. Tissue Engineer, PhD
5. Basic Scientist, M.D., PhD   
6. Medical Informatics M.D., PhD

Highly collaborative established team funded by the NIH.

Faculty will be recruited to the Surgery Department. The program cares for over 200 patients per week and approximately 30 in patients with severe complex wounds. Candidates who want to focus their career to help those with non healing wounds should apply.

Bioinformatics:

Applications are sought in Bioinformatics for NIH funded researcher to work with Dr. Harold Brem, Division Chief of the Helen and Martin Kimmel Wound Center at New York University School of Medicine Department of Surgery- Division of Wound Healing and Regenerative Medicine.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Data Analysis
  • Develop algorithms and software tools in support of project research objectives
  • Participating in writing project updates, reports, proposals  and scientific articles
  • Correlate Wound Electronic Medical Record (WEMR) data to clinical outcomes
  • Collaborating with investigators within and outside the program, in furtherance of project objectives

Requirements:
Applicants must hold a MD or PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related scientific discipline pertinent to the position. Experience with bioinformatics methods, tools, websites and data resources highly desired. Track record from NIH preferred.

Position Details:

The Division of Dermatology at the University of Washington has 1-3 full-time postdoctoral research fellow positions available in skin biology effective July 1, 2009. The fellowship is for one year and may be extended for one additional year depending on the performance of the candidate.

Duties: To conduct research in skin biology (basic, clinical, health services, epidemiology or other research areas relevant to skin biology)

Applicants must have a doctorate degree in the field of biological sciences. Funding will be provided from an NIH T32 Training Grant so applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Please submit the following information by April 15, 2009, for a start date in July/August 2009 – or by January 15, 2010, for a start date in July 2010:

  • Cover letter: Describe research interests and career goals. Identify proposed mentor. Indicate prior funding support from NIH (include award # i.e., T32 AR07019 and dates appointed).

  • Research proposal: 1-2 page proposal. Include statement on the relevance of your project to skin biology
