Dear Friends and Colleagues:
As the 31th Annual Meeting of the Wound Healing Society, in San Antonio, Texas approaches, I wanted to take this time to share some highlights which we can all look forward to! This year marks the 13th year that WHS has been held in collaboration with SAWC. This successful collaboration remains the largest interdisciplinary wound care conference, where cutting edge science propels evidence based clinical care. We continue to attract the best presenters and enthusiastic participants.

Introducing the Wound Shark Tank: Innovation Competition!
The Wound Healing Society (WHS) is pleased to announce the first annual science and product innovation competition. The competition features two tracks to apply for the WHS WoundShark Innovation Award: a Research Track and Translational Track for groundbreaking science and new product innovations. Winners will be announced at the SharkTank Lunch on May 7, 12:45 - 2:00 pm at the WHS Annual Meeting.
Only WHS MEMBERS can apply for the prestigious awards. Please apply online if you are not already a WHS member.
A panel of esteemed judges from the program committee will review the submissions and select the top three submissions for a five-minute elevator pitch. The best Research and Translational Track pitches will each win a $500 CASH PRIZE sponsored by Alira Health.

Elof Eriksson was born in Sweden where he received his Medical and Graduate Research Education (University of Gothenburg). After Residencies in General Surgery (University of Chicago) and Plastic Surgery (Medical College of Virginia) he returned to Sweden (University of Gothenburg) and worked as an Academic Plastic Surgeon for three years. He then moved to the US to be the Director of the Burn Unit at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, Illinois. More

WHS Awards Committee announces new cycle for Summer Research Fellowship applications. WHS Summer Research Fellowship provides students an excellent opportunity to conduct summer research, get recognition in a prestigious fellowship program and attend WHS conference to present their research results (pending abstract acceptance). Faculty have an opportunity to mentor students and receive support for their students to conduct research.
Amount: up to $4,000
Deadline: March 29th, 2019

Goal: Assemble in a single issue a series of original papers on emerging topics related to infections in long-term care, such as prevention; regulation; risk assessment; surveillance; antibiotic use, resistance patterns, and stewardship; staffing challenges; and others. All submissions must have relevance for practice and/or policy.
