Objective: To recognize scientific work that fosters the development of cell-based and other therapies in wound healing and regenerative medicine toward clinical applicability.
Award: $500 each to two awardees.
Qualifications:
- Must be a wound healing researcher or practitioner (basic scientist, physician, nurse, physical therapist, etc.) who is or has been a WHS member for at least three years
- Must attend and present at the Annual Meeting
- Cannot come from the corporate sector
- Research must be unpublished
- Must answer qualification questions during the abstract submission process
Selection: The awardee is selected from abstracts submitted to the WHS Annual Meeting. Applicants must indicate in their abstract form that their research should be considered and include a 100-word section describing its potential for clinical application. The top 20 scoring abstracts are forwarded to the Awards Committee. Preference is given to cell-based therapies, though other therapies are eligible. Research must demonstrate clear movement toward clinical application, such as phase I studies planned or in progress.
Award Presentation: Two awards presented at the Annual Meeting Awards Ceremony. Winners must be present.
