President

Susan W. Volk
VMD, PhD, Dipl ACVS

University of Pennsylvania

Susan W. Volk, VMD, PhD, is the Corinne R. and Henry Bower Professor of Small Animal Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, where her translational research program spans wound healing, surgical repair, and tumor microenvironments across discovery science through clinical trials. A WHS member since 2005 and current president of the Society, she has served two terms on the Board of Directors, chaired the International and Sister Society Committee for nearly a decade, and contributed to the Annual Meeting every year as presenter, moderator, and judge.

Robert Kirsner

University of Miami

Dr. Kirsner is Chairman and the endowed Harvey Blank Chair in the Dr. Phillip Frost Dermatology in the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery and Professor of Public Health Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Chandan Sen, PhD

University of Pittsburgh

Dr. Chandan K. Sen, PhD, FNAI is the Bartley P. Griffith Chair of Regenerative Medicine and serves as Director of the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Sen is also the Editor of Advances in Wound Care, top-ranked journal in wound care by impact factor.

Sundeep Keswani

Dr. Sundeep Keswani is the Associate Surgeon-in-Chief at Texas Children’s Hospital and holds the Clayton Endowed Chair in Surgical Research. A pediatric surgeon specializing in fetal therapy and ECMO, he leads an NIH-funded laboratory, has published over 160 articles, mentors trainees, and serves as an Executive Governor with the American College of Surgeons.

Brian Eliceiri

University of California, San Diego

Dr. Eliceiri is a Professor at the University of California San Diego, studying the biology of intercellular communication mediated by extracellular vesicles, focusing on defined payloads that promote wound healing. He has Chaired an Annual WHS Meeting, the Publications Committee, the Membership Committee, and been a WHS Board member.

Kyle Quinn

Tufts University

Kyle P. Quinn, PhD, is a Professor at Tufts University and Director of the Tufts Advanced Microscopic Imaging Center. His lab uses label-free multiphoton microscopy and AI-powered image analysis to study wound healing and aging. He has previously chaired the WHS Communications, Membership, and Program Committees.

Foy White-Chu

Dr. White‑Chu is an Associate Professor at OHSU and Medical Director of the Wound Healing Program at the Portland VA. She cares for veterans with complex chronic wounds and leads national wound‑care policy efforts. Her work focuses on simplifying geriatric wound care for frontline clinicians.

Piul Rabbani

Piul Rabbani, PhD. is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Plastic Surgery, and Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine Institute at New York University School of Medicine. Her lab studies exosomal communication in wounds and exosome-based therapeutics. She has served as Awards Committee Chair and on the Board of Directors.

Swathi Balaji

Carlos Zgheib

Dr. Zgheib is Professor of Surgery at the University of Arizona and Chief Scientific Officer of Ceria Therapeutics. He studies regenerative medicine and wound healing, translating laboratory discoveries into therapies for chronic wounds and acute injuries. He serves on the WHS Board and mentors interdisciplinary teams in advancing patient-centered research.”

Dorothy Supp

Dr. Supp is a Research Professor of Surgery at the University of Cincinnati and Scientific Staff member at Shriners Children’s Ohio. She studies abnormal scarring and skin tissue engineering. A WHS member for over two decades, she co-chairs the Awards Committee and serves as senior editor for Wound Repair and Regeneration.

Daria Narmoneva

Daria Narmoneva, PhD was the WHS/SAWC meeting Program co-chair (2023), and the WHS Board member (2023-2026). She is a tenured faculty in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. Her research focuses on application of principles of bioengineering, biophysics and molecular/cell biology to develop new therapies for diabetic wounds.

Manuela Martins-Green

Manuela Martins-Green is a Professor of Cell Biology at the University of California, Riverside. Originally from Portugal, she came to the U.S. on a Fulbright Fellowship and earned her PhD from UC Davis. Her research focuses on the initiation and progression of chronic wounds, and she has been on the UC Riverside faculty since 1993.

Traci Wilgus

Dr. Wilgus is a Fellow Scientist at Regeneron leading a team focused on keloid and fibrosis research. Previously, she was an Associate Professor at Ohio State. Her academic research focused on scarless fetal wound healing and understanding the roles of inflammation and angiogenesis in wound repair, scarring, and skin carcinogenesis.

Lisa Gould

Lisa Gould, MD, PhD, FACS has been practicing plastic and reconstructive surgery with an emphasis on difficult wound problems since 1999. A dedicated surgeon-scientist, she brings her passion for innovative wound research and education to her clinical practice, students at all levels, new investigators and the national organizations she serves.
